Artist statement
My goal as an artist is to convey my feelings about my connection with the earth. I research new patterns and forms to understand my identity, channel my feelings, and widen my appreciation for the use of decorative arts. The color choices and line work communicate a greater energy that runs throughout everyone and unites us with our memories. My art is meant to be a mantra uniquely defined by the individual according to their personal experiences and culture. I create visual texture with raw, edgy qualities to mimic contemporary society’s battle with the natural world. I build the layers in my paintings by using mixed media techniques, printmaking, and stenciling.
